Registration and Application Process
The registration for NEET 2024 began in December 2023, with thousands of aspirants filling out the online application forms. The NTA also provided a correction window in early February 2024, allowing candidates to make necessary changes to their submitted forms.
Eligibility Criteria
To appear for NEET 2024, candidates needed to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Age Limit: Candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2024. The upper age limit for General category candidates is 25 years, with a relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and PwD candidates.
- Academic Qualifications: Candidates must have completed or be appearing for their 12th grade examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects. General category candidates must secure at least 50% marks in PCB, while SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates need a minimum of 40%.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The NEET 2024 examination, held on May 5, 2024, followed the standard pattern:
- Duration: 3 hours
- Mode: Pen-and-paper based
- Sections: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology)
- Total Questions: 180 (45 questions per subject)
- Marking Scheme: +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each incorrect answer
The syllabus for NEET 2024 was based on the NCERT curriculum for classes 11 and 12, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of students' knowledge and understanding.
Examination Day and Conduct

Result Announcement

Result Declaration
The much-awaited NEET 2024 results are scheduled to be announced on June 10, 2024. Candidates can check their results on the official NTA NEET website by logging in with their application number and password. The result will display the candidate's score, All India Rank (AIR), and category rank.
Cut-off and Counseling
Post result declaration, the NTA will release the NEET 2024 cut-off scores, which are the minimum qualifying marks required for different categories. The cut-off will be determined based on factors like the difficulty level of the exam, the number of candidates appearing, and the availability of seats.
The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) and respective state authorities will then conduct the counseling process for admissions into MBBS and BDS courses. The counseling is expected to commence in the last week of June 2024, involving multiple rounds for seat allocation based on merit and preference.
